Cynthia Webster got her first Shetland Sheepdog, Jenny, in the late 1960's.
Lady Webster's Jenny Royal (a mahogany sable) was Cynthia's first obedience dog - and the one who started it all off. Jenny was followed by Betsy I (a neurotic Tri-color) and Heather (a Scottish Terrier gotten by her husband, Lloyd). But family life and three children, Karen, Elizabeth and Steven (an architect in Rhode Island) put the dog world on hold. (But only for a short time in the grand scheme of things...)
In 1980, Cynthia purchased a blue merle bitch from Romayne Shetland Sheepdogs, when
they were located in Pelham, NH.
This bitch was not show quality but just right for eldest daughter Karen to start in Obedience and Junior Show with - which Karen did in 1982. During this time, Cynthia met Madelyn Cirinna of Scottfree Shetland Sheepdogs. The family added Betsy II whom second child, Elizabeth, started working with in Obedience and Junior Show. In the mid 1980's, it was back to Scottfree and Willow, a sweet blue bitch, was purchased. Following Willow was half-sister Molly, also from Scottfree. Willow and Molly really kicked off Will O'Wisp Shetland Sheepdogs.
The canine family line goes down from Willow who produced Kiefer. Molly who
produced Robin. From Robin came Cody, Ryker and Indy. Cynthia has breeder/owner/handled Cody to an American and Canadian Champion title.
During this time, Cynthia met Martha Heckman and Sarah Foy of Ventura Shetland
Sheepdogs - also a mother-daughter team who are incorporating their third human generation into the dog world. Ventura has played a big role in Will O'Wisp with both Karen and Elizabeth having Ventura bred dogs.
Cynthia is also a member and current secretary of the Granite State Shetland Sheepdog
Club of South East NH.
Husband Lloyd is retired from General Electric in Lynn, MA. He was also an
assistant obedience instructor.
Daughter Karen lives in VA where she is an at-home Mom, owns and operates West Wind Dog Training and The Safe Kids/Safe Dog's Project.
Daughter Beth is a veterinarian practicing in Michigan.
Son Steven is a budding architect who graduated in 2002 from Roger Williams
University in RI.
